What is the Occidian Empire?
The Occidian Empire, formerly known as the North American Confederation, is a micronational state shared between the Grand Republic of Delvera and the Empire of Karnia-Ruthenia.
Originally founded as the North American Confederation in late 2010 as an independent state, the Confederation began as a unification of three constituent micronations; the Empire of New Europe, the Democratic People's Republic of Eniarku, and the Ohio Empire. Though initially politically and culturally influential in the micronational community, the first government of the NAC found itself embroiled in several political difficulties that would eventually leave the government completely crippled only months after the nation's foundation. For the next 4 years, the North American Confederation was all but extinct, trapped in a state of existence known as the Interregnum.
The political instability was eventually resolved when, in May of 2015, the Emperor of North America, William I, made an agreement with the Ohioan Emperor-in-pretense to reorganize and reconstruct a new and stronger Confederation government. Newly reformed, the NAC has made great strides to restructure their government, advance their cultural and economic identity, and joined the Grand Republic of Delvera as one of their provinces. This included the formulation of two additional Constitutions and the eventual abdication of William I in favor of a personal union with the Empire of Karnia-Ruthenia through its monarch, Oscar I.
Upon the ratification of the Oscarine Constitution on the 01 October 2020, the North American Confederation was reorganized into the Occidian Empire, that became a constituent state of Karnia-Ruthenia since 10 December 2021.
