The third of December marked the completetion of the first session of the provisional 2nd Congress of the North American Confederation. This session was the first meeting of Congress since the interregnum and the collapse of the Meek government in early 2011.
The Senators discussed numerous issues regarding the Constitution and the conclusion of the provisional Marx government. Prime Minister Marx, in accordance with the Provisional Legislature Act of 2016, stood in as President of the Senate and oversaw proceedings. In attendance were the following Senators:
The results of the session are as follows: Shall the Constitution of the North American Confederation be a codified document (as prefered by the Constitutionalist Party), or a semi-codified (as preferred by the Centrist Party)?
Victors of this session include the Constitutionalist Party, whose proposal for a codified Constitution has been a central tenet of the nation's right-wing party, as well as the Marx government, whose economic policies and goals have been furthered with the nationalization of the College, legitimization of the Minister of Finance, and the suspension of the House, placing the government one step closer to ending their provisional status. The session concluded with well wishes and a message of hope from both the Emperor and the Prime Minister regarding the future of the North American Confederation.
